About the Position: This is a Full-Time Temporary position, mid June to end of August (approximately 10 weeks). Working closely with the team at our North Central Family Resource Network, The Camp Coordinator oversees the activities of 3 Camp Leaders and youth/parent volunteers. The Camp Coordinator plays a key role in planning and implementing Closer to Home’s Summer in the City (SITC) program for youth ages 7-12.
This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program (CSJP) through Employment and Social Development Canada; so all candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee
- Have all compliance documentation required by Closer to Home from the last 6 months

- Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
- First Aid CPR Level C
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Intervention Record Check
Responsibilities:
- Guiding and mentoring Summer Camp Leaders and volunteers, escalating complex issues to the FRN Coordinator.
- Supporting registration processes and assisting in the development of program curriculum.
- Leading daily field trips to various locations across Calgary, ensuring participant safety and engagement.
- Managing scheduling issues and resolving logistical conflicts as they arise.
- Executing data entry in Penelope, ensuring all family follow-up questions are documented.
- Tracking daily attendance and conducting follow-up calls for children who are unwell or absent.
- Gathering feedback from field trips to assist with ongoing program evaluation.
- Performing administrative data entry and assisting in analyzing program metrics.
- Completing the end-of-summer "Summer in the City" comprehensive report.
- Maintaining site cleanliness and organization across all SITC program locations.
- Participate in staff training and professional development workshops.
Qualifications:
- This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program (CSJP) through Employment and Social Development Canada; so all candidates must meet the eligibility criteria
- Demonstrated ability and previous experience in working with children and youth
- Supervisory experience is considered an asset
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
- Able to work well in a team environment
- Highly organized, adaptable and able to effectively manage multiple priorities at one time
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with people from a variety of backgrounds
- Culturally competent and able to conduct yourself in a respectful manner, encouraging of the cultural/spiritual beliefs and practices of others
- A Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and an Intervention Record Check must be completed prior to commencement. Any convictions or records should be disclosed before hire
- Current First Aid Level C from an Alberta OHS Approved agency
- This position requires travel to and from locations around the city. We ask that the successful candidate have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Experience working in a non-profit setting is considered an asset
