Description
As a Groundwater Modeller, you will support projects that span multiple disciplines within our organization in order to deliver high quality and sustainable solutions to our clients.
Your experience in the industry and/or consulting, as well as your project and people skills will enable you to make a difference in our industry and inspire new and better ways to implement engineering and water management solutions.
Responsibilities
Develop and refine conceptual hydrogeological models based on geological, hydrogeological, and monitoring datasets. Construct, calibrate, validate, and apply groundwater flow models (i.e., 1D, 2D and 3D) for environmental and mining projects. Build, strengthen and maintain client relationships. Prepare model documentation, calibration reports, and technical reports for client and regulatory submissions. Participate in model reviews and quality assurance processes. Analyze groundwater monitoring, pumping test, slug test, geological, and water quality datasets. Support field investigations and monitoring programs as required. Interpret hydrogeological conditions and communicate findings to project teams and clients. Contribute to groundwater-surface water interaction assessments.
Position Qualifications
Minimum of 5+ years of proven experience in hydrogeology and groundwater modelling. Strong analytical skills interpreting and analyzing hydrogeological data sets. Undergraduate degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline. Graduate degree in hydrogeology or equivalent strongly preferred. Eligible for professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) and/or the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is an asset. Legally able to work in Canada. Must have excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to work in fast-paced dynamic work environment.
What We’re Looking For
Experience integrating groundwater modelling results into broader water management, water balance, or environmental assessment frameworks is considered an asset. Flexibility, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage change with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple complex projects with a proactive approach and a high level of attention to detail. Industry experience in mining, construction, and hydrogeology is an asset. Experience with FEFLOW, MODFLOW/Visual MODFLOW, HydroGeoSphere, GoldSim, PEST, and Leapfrog Works, or equivalent hydrogeological modelling software. Familiarity with Surfer, Python and R is an asset.
