Job Type: Permanent Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 8-4pm) Pay: $43,823 per annum plus benefits
About the Role
As a Janitor at Alpha House, you will play an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for clients, staff, and visitors. Working across our different sites, you will ensure our facilities meet Public Health standards while supporting the day to day operations of the organization. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working independently, and values making a meaningful impact in their community. Your responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning and disinfecting walls, windows, floors, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and other surfaces.
- Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and maintaining all assigned areas.
- Empty garbage and recycling containers and remove soiled linens as required.
- Operate and maintain housekeeping equipment safely and effectively.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and notifying the team when replenishment is needed.
- Safely use cleaning products in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures.
- Follow all Health and Safety, Infection Prevention, and Public Health standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism when interacting with clients, staff, and visitors.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
About You
We're looking for someone who is dependable, motivated, and takes pride in maintaining clean and safe spaces. The ideal candidate will have:
- Commercial cleaning experience, preferably in health care, shelter, or similar environments.
- Experience and comfort cleaning bodily fluids.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- The physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and other physical tasks.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations is considered an asset.
- The ability to successfully complete a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- At least Grade 10 education
- Ability to complete lift training and privacy certification
- Ability to tolerate strong odors
