Role Description The Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration and HVAC systems in residential and commercial settings. Day-to-day activities include performing diagnostic assessments, troubleshooting system issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and completing repairs in accordance with safety codes and industry standards. The mechanic will respond to service calls, document work performed, and communicate clearly with clients and team members to ensure effective solutions and positive service experiences. The role also involves collaborating with other technicians, maintaining tools and equipment, and staying current with evolving industry practices and technologies. Qualifications Strong HVAC and refrigeration skills, including installation, commissioning, and system diagnostics. Experience with preventive maintenance and maintenance & repair activities for residential and commercial equipment. Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and control issues to identify and resolve system faults efficiently. Working knowledge of electricity, including safe practices related to wiring, controls, and electrical components. Valid Journeyperson Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic certification (or equivalent provincial designation). Understanding of applicable codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations for refrigeration and HVAC systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer documentation. Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients. Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in varied indoor and outdoor conditions. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for travel to job sites in the Calgary area.
