CRA's National EE Staffing Strategy strives to eliminate gaps for the four EE designated groups: Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, and women. Where an EE gap exists at the time of appointment, EE may be used as an appointment criterion for permanent and temporary appointments over six months made through this process.

Employees are required to work on-site at a CRA-approved location a minimum of three days per week or 60% of their regular monthly work schedule. Individual exceptions may be granted based on individual circumstances and the nature of the work being performed.

• An Income Tax Auditor will audit returns, assigned in accordance with the Planning Guidelines, to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Income Tax Act and other statutes administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
• An Excise Tax Auditor will audit and examine returns and/or applications, assigned in accordance with the Planning Guidelines, to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Excise Tax Act and other statutes administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Intent of Process:
This process may be used to staff potential SP05 Income Tax Auditor and Excise Tax Auditor/Examiner positions in various locations across Atlantic Canada in the Atlantic Compliance Program. We may create separate pools depending on the staffing requirements of the position, including location and specific experience. The degree of virtual reporting possible will be based on operational requirements.

Clear communication will be provided to candidates throughout the process.

The pool established from this staffing process may be used to staff similar positions.

Important Notice

This staffing process is for the same SP-05 Income Tax Auditor / Excise Tax Auditor (Requisition 62329781) and will be run concurrently with this internal process, including the assessment stage.

Internal candidates are not required to apply for this external process. If you apply to both of these processes, you will be assessed only once on common staffing requirements.

Successful candidates are expected to reside within reasonable commuting distance (125 kilometres or less) from one of the following CRA locations:

• Bathurst, New Brunswick
• Moncton, New Brunswick

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) currently has restrictions on certain hiring activities. As a result, any staffing from this process will be limited to temporary opportunities.

Who can apply

Any individual residing in Canada, and Canadian citizens and permanent residents residing abroad.

Preference for appointment will be given to veterans first, followed by Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in the Atlantic Region.

If you are a candidate from the public, you will have to pay for any expenses related to your participation in this staffing process, as well as any relocation costs if you receive an offer of employment from this process.

Qualified members and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces who receive an offer of employment are not entitled to relocation costs from the CRA. They may, however, be entitled to a final relocation from the Department of National Defence.

Essential staffing requirements

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements.

Education

The CRA's minimum education standard for SP jobs requiring knowledge of Accounting (Group II Intermediate Accounting):

• A secondary school diploma or CRA-approved alternatives; AND
• Successful completion of the following courses or field of studies from a recognized postsecondary institution or from a recognized professional accounting association: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Intermediate Financial Reporting 2 or FA3 or Intermediate Financial Accounting 2 or Intermediate Accounting 2.

Important: By the closing date and time of this poster, candidates are encouraged to upload proof of education in the Education section of their Candidate Profile. Proof of education includes transcripts showing completion of the required accounting courses, including course codes and grades obtained. Proof must be clear, legible, noneditable and must show your name and the educational institution. Where applicable, proof must also indicate that the diploma or degree was conferred.

Candidates who do not have their education documentation available by the closing date will not be admitted to the pool. Acceptable proof of education is mandatory prior to appointment, and candidates must provide it before being placed in a position from this pool. Failure to do so will result in removal from consideration for appointment.

When academic qualifications are unclear or where a course does not appear in any of the transfer credits or prerequisite lists, the candidate is responsible to have their studies in question assessed for equivalency.

Assessments will only be rescheduled for exceptional circumstances, and supporting documentation may be requested by the Staffing Board.
