You will find the school to be a professional learning centre. In addition to spending an engaging day with students who are genuinely interested in learning, thinking and playing, teachers are provided with dedicated work time as part of their daily schedule to plan and work collaboratively with others.
The successful candidate will have 0.7 FTE teaching responsibilities in ICT and the remaining 0.3 FTE in an area of operational need that aligns with the candidate's skills and experience.
Responsibilities of a CHS Teacher
- Bring a student-centered, inquiry-based, and collaborative approach to the delivery of the B.C. curriculum of ICT (computer science, computer programming, robotics, engineering), (Grade 8 - 12)
- Support the growth and development of individual learners through the delivery of the Crofton House School Advisory program
- Build relationships with teachers and staff across the school community
- Be an active and positive participant in the co-curricular program as appropriate for the term of the contract
- Participate in school meetings and events, including school planning and professional development
- Create a positive and supportive culture for learning
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience
- Essential: B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification qualification criteria
- Relevant university qualifications preferably at the graduate level (e.g. Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent + Bachelor of Education)
- Experience as an ICT (computer science, computer programming, robotics, engineering) teacher at a senior school level
- Previous experience teaching in subject areas is an asset
- A comprehensive understanding of current educational and assessment practices outlined in the BC Ministry of Education documents
- Experience in an independent school is an asset
- An awareness of the learning styles of girls and young women
- Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching
- Commitment to the practice of teaching and professional standards
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Employment and Application Details:
Classes begin in September 2026 following teacher orientation in late August 2026.
Annual Compensation: $69,541 - $123,242
