About the role
Sign FX Inc is looking for a skilled CNC machining tool operator to join our signage production team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC equipment used in the fabrication of custom commercial and retail signage. You will work with a variety of materials including acrylic, aluminum composite, PVC, and HDU foam to produce precise, high-quality sign components.
Key responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC routing and cutting equipment for signage production
- Read and interpret technical drawings, design files, and cut sheets to program machine toolpaths
- Load and secure materials (acrylic, aluminum composite, PVC, HDU foam) for machining
- Perform routine maintenance, tool changes, and machine calibration to ensure precision output
- Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and surface quality against job specifications
- Troubleshoot machine faults and tooling issues to minimize production downtime
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety standards
- Collaborate with the production and design teams to meet project deadlines
Required qualifications
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience operating CNC routing, milling, or cutting equipment in a production in signage environment
- Ability to read technical drawings, G-code, and CAD/CAM files
- Experience working with signage materials such as acrylic, dibond, PVC foam, or similar substrates
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment
- Has a comprehensive understanding of signage construction (pylon signs, channel letters, interior wall signs)
- Completion of secondary school (high school diploma or equivalent)
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in a commercial signage, display, or fabrication shop
- Familiarity with software such as Aspire, VCarve, ArtCAM, or similar CAM tools
- Knowledge of basic finishing processes (sanding, painting, assembly)
- Trade certification or vocational training in machining, manufacturing, or a related field is an asset
Compensation & schedule
- Wage: $24.00?$27.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Full-time, permanent position
- 40 hours per week
- Monday?Thursday: 7:00 am?4:30 pm
- Friday: 7:00 am?11:00 am
- Work location: 106 Tansley Dr, Carp, Ontario
