The purpose of this positions is to provide second level technical support to users of a telecommunications service and to guide them in attaining effective and efficient use of the facilities. This position is also responsible for planning and coordinating the user subscription of telecommunication services from initial planning stages to implementation. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining user information, supporting users, and creating reports to facilitate the payment of telecommunications charges.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Planning, organizing, coordinating the installation, relocation, removal, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment/systems;
- Providing support and guidance for telephones, telephone systems, cellular phones, and data lines;
- Creating work orders for the installation, removal or relocation of telecommunications equipment, billing charges, and proper programming;
- Participating in the implementation and maintenance of Unified Communications (UC);
- Providing second level support to the Service Desk for Telecommunications problems;
- Ensuring the care and custody of telecommunications equipment (desk phones and cellular etc.);
- Assisting in the development of a telecommunications work process flow using Solar Winds ticketing system;
- Implementing special telecommunications projects, as required;
- Providing training to users;
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a university degree or college diploma in Information Technology or related discipline.
- Demonstrated equvalancies may be considered;
- Must hold Technical certifications in Telecommunications. Certified Telecommunications Analyst (CTA) or equivalent;
- Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered;
- Considerable experience in the IT Industry;
- Experience in telecommunications and mobile devices;
- Must be able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment; must be able to plan, organize, and implement projects and be able to meet deadlines and conduct research into telecommunications issues and products;
- The successful applicant will be self-motivated and directed having strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and proven analytical and problem solving skills;
- Applicants must have a good previous work and attendance record. The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check prior to beginning employment.
Other Qualifications:
- Training in the following areas are considered assets: Telco Software, Report Writers, Incident Management and UC.
- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
- Bilingualism will be considered an asset.
