Student Research Assistant - Department of Physics - Faculty of Science
About the role
Dr. James Polson is seeking a student research assistant to work on a project using computer simulation methods to study the physical properties of polymer systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Writing and/or modifying a molecular Monte Carlo simulation program designed to investigate the conformational behaviour of a polycatenane chain subject to external forces
- Generating data using the simulation program by carrying out calculations on computer clusters operated by the Digital Research Alliance of Canada
- Statistical analysis of the numerical data and quantitative comparison of the results with analytical theoretical predictions
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current UPEI student
- Must have completed at least two years of an undergraduate physics program
- Experience using molecular Monte Carlo computer simulation methods
- Experience with programming in C/C++ or related language
Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
