Art Teacher (Grades 7–12) – Job Description
- Teach foundational art concepts including drawing, painting, design, and composition to students in grades 7–12
- Introduce a variety of media and techniques (e.g., pencil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media)
- Develop lesson plans that build creativity, technical skills, and critical thinking
- Encourage student self-expression while teaching core artistic principles (line, color, form, texture, perspective)
- Assess student work and provide constructive, age-appropriate feedback
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse skill levels
- Manage classroom materials, tools, and safety procedures
- Integrate art history and cultural context into lessons where appropriate
- Support school events, displays, and student art exhibitions
- Communicate student progress with parents/guardians and collaborate with staff as needed
