Role Description We are looking for a enthusiastic, detail-oriented Line Cook to join our team full-time through the winter season. Based at our Markham café, you will be responsible for preparing menu items-with an emphasis on our stone-baked sourdough sandwiches and light food offerings-while ensuring top-tier presentation, speed, and food safety. Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation: Prepare menu items, guest orders, and catering components following established recipes, portion controls, and plating standards. Station Management: Set up, maintain, and restock prep stations; ensure ingredients are properly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated (FIFO). Catering Support: Assist the team in prepping, assembling, and staging items for corporate events and private catering orders. Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized work environment and adhere strictly to local public health and food safety standards. Team Collaboration: Communicate clearly with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth ticket flow, rapid service, and a great guest experience. Qualifications & Requirements Location & Schedule: Must live in or near the Markham or Whitchurch-Stouffville area and be fully available for full-time work throughout the winter season at either location . Certification: Valid Ontario Food Handler Certificate (Required). Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of proper food handling, temperature control, storage, and sanitation practices. Organization & Efficiency: Ability to multitask, manage order tickets efficiently during high-volume periods, and maintain a spotless station. Teamwork: Strong communication skills with a positive, collaborative, and guest-focused mindset. Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights during kitchen setup and deliveries. Experience: Prior experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a catering/café environment is preferred, but entry-level applicants with strong motivation and practical kitchen awareness are welcome.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a valid Ontario Food Handler Certificate and reside near Markham or Whitchurch-Stouffville. Prior experience in a kitchen or catering environment is preferred, but motivated entry-level applicants are welcome.
