Salary Range: $63,347 to $116,190 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: September 1, 2026, to not later than June 30, 2028

2. Due to the specialized nature of this position, the successful applicant, if currently a continuing appointee with Chilliwack School District, may be "seconded" to this position thereby having the assurance to return to his/her former position.

**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience: **

The Curriculum Support Teacher – Middle/Secondary Literacy - will work directly with teachers and students throughout the school district. The scope of this work will include, but is not limited to, the implementation, interpretation, and impact of supporting a comprehensive approach to literacy instruction in the classroom. The successful applicant will be planning and delivering this support as push-in, in-service – working closely with other members of the curriculum department team as well as school based teams of teachers.

• extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in all areas of this teaching assignment
• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
• Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
• a combination of 5 years of recent successful classroom teaching experience between the elementary and middle levels
• demonstrated ability and experience in teaching and mentoring other teacher colleagues
• demonstrated success presenting workshops/professional learning sessions at school, district and provincial level
• evidence of experience in teacher leadership initiatives
• demonstrated ability to organize, plan and complete multiple tasks
• demonstrated ability to link content, assessment practices and learning that aligns with a comprehensive literacy approach
• demonstrated effective use of ACT in planning for instruction of reading comprehension and thinking
• demonstrated ability and experience with assessing and planning for word study
• demonstrated ability and experience in assessing student learning and using assessment to drive practice
• demonstrated knowledge of and experience with District and/or provincial literacy assessments (PM Benchmarks, word inventory, FSA)
• demonstrated ability and experience in using sound lesson design and differentiating instructional strategies
• demonstrated ability to design literacy lessons that connect anti-racism and the core/curricular competencies
• demonstrated ability to design cross curricular learning experiences
• demonstrated knowledge of and experience in using the First Peoples' Principles of Learning in planning and design
• demonstrated willingness to team teach in classrooms throughout the district
• demonstrated experience in supporting professional learning at the school or district levels
• demonstrated ability and experience in using technology to support teacher learning
• demonstrated ability to participate as an effective member of a team and to provide service to others
• applicants must possess a valid BC Driver's License and have the use of a vehicle
