Purdys Chocolatier is looking for a full-time, permanent Supply Planner to join our 2777 Kingsway Office in Vancouver, BC!
Job Overview: Under the direction of the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Supply Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based upon the long-term inventory strategy. Working with the Production Planners and other stakeholders, the Supply Planner is expected to proactively identify long term capacity constraints and tailor the MPS to level load production requirements across work centres and efficiently utilize production labour. This individual uses their technical skills to optimize all supply planning related processes for the business to promote high levels of service level/fulfillment rates while balancing inventory turns targets.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Develop mid- and long-term production plans and work centre shift requirements; perform capacity analysis of equipment and personnel for long term future production planning to support the growth of all sales channels
- Identify and communicate any supply risks (purchased or manufactured) proactively to the appropriate departments
- Maintain system data to ensure reports are accurate to forecast needs and delivery requirements for purchasing and production
- Own the end-to-end MRP (Material Requirements Planning) process including ensuring production plans are up to date and meeting the latest forecasts, ensuring all interrelated processes are up to date and executed in sequence to ensure an accurate MRP output
- Prepare reports that indicate production progress; communicate issues proactively
- Coordinate with the Production Planners and Production Supervisors to execute weekly production plans and maintain inventory to provide superior customer service levels
- Determine and manage appropriate safety stock levels for manufactured goods to maximize fill rate/service level while maintaining a focus on shelf life/quality of goods
- Analyze changes in forecasts and communicate ramifications/risks to the Purchasing team
- Own and refine ERP fields driving manufactured item MRP prompts (run minimums, multiples, horizon windows, economic batch quantities, etc)
- Utilize ERP logic knowledge to optimize related processes to best leverage technology available
- Identify at risk inventory, due to expiration or orphanage, and work with stakeholders to proactively formulate and execute use-up plans to consume materials in a way that minimizes obsolescence while maintaining quality
- Use technical skills (Power BI, Power Query), to efficiently generate data for various processes including long term capacity planning, best before date management, inventory obsolescence analysis, etc.
- Support in product lifecycle management including but not limited to: identifying necessary BOM (bills of material) changes with each season; identifying and quantifying value of unique ingredients to inform decisions of product discontinuations; providing recommendations on final production quantities and timing for end-of-life products to minimize inventory obsolescence
You will be a good fit if you have:
- Experience in production planning or scheduling, using MRP software or relevant education in Operations Management
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities with excellent time management capabilities
- Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
- Data analysis skills including strong skills using Excel Power Query and Power BI
- Analytical skills and experience designing and optimizing planning processes (business analysis)
- Ability to do root cause analysis
- Ability to lead and influence others and create a teamwork environment
- Expertise in MRP functions/modules of ERP system (required), Syteline ERP (asset), WMS
- Strong knowledge of GMP’s in a food environment
- Candidates holding or working towards a professional supply chain certification will be an asset (APICS, SCMP)
