About the role
Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent and Maintenance Manager and is responsible for directly supervising assigned mine maintenance personnel to achieve maintenance production in a safe and economical manner.
Supervisor Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities over members of the maintenance team including Welders, Mechanics, Machinists, Electricians, contractors and other assigned employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate and monitor routine maintenance of all mining equipment
- Coordinate activities for the maintenance crews; provide training as needed
- Coordinate the availability of parts for maintenance projects
- Prepare, submit and maintain equipment records, analyzing equipment performance and reporting on the effectiveness of the maintenance service.
- Communicate and work co-operatively with operations to ensure equipment is being maintained while maximizing production.
- Identify and balance resource demands on workgroup; approve time cards
- Communicate performance expectations to crew members and address any performance issues that can be improved
- Ensure employees are in compliance with all company policies/procedures and safety regulations
- Conduct weekly tool box meetings and perform shop inspections at the beginning of each shift
- Perform related work as required
Typical Physical Demands
Work in a safe manner at all times and be aware of environmental responsibilities both in an office and maintenance setting. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
Typical Working Conditions
Working in a variety of environments including office, shop and outdoors. Working on an alternating shift schedule.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience
- Minimum 5 years mining experience
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications
- Must be willing to obtain their Supervisor’s Certificate
- Trades Certificate preferred
