About the role
Are you ready to turn data into decisions? As a Associate Financial Analyst, you’ll play a key role in shaping the financial direction of the business by partnering with operations to deliver timely updates, build forecasts, and support strategic planning.
This is a hands-on role where your analytical skills and business acumen will shine. You’ll lead monthly discussions with internal stakeholders, diving into performance metrics and uncovering trends that drive smarter decisions. Your work will ensure financial information is accurate, actionable, and aligned with business goals.

Prepare, maintain, and update long-term financial forecasts using established financial models.

Support the development of the annual budget and organizational strategic planning activities.

Perform period-end reporting, reconciliation activities, and analysis to support timely and accurate financial close.

Identify opportunities for process improvements related to reporting and forecasting.

Provide financial analysis and insights to leadership.

Assist in drafting, updating, and maintaining financial policies, procedures, and documentation.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or commerce with Accounting, Finance, or Economics majororequivalent education and experience.

0-5 years of relevant work experience.

Obtaining or working towards CPA designation is considered an asset.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite,

Previous experience with financial audits, Cognos TM1, and government contracts is considered an asset.

Strong financial literacy.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work with and influence a wide range of individuals at all levels in the organization.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to read and interpret data.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
