Project Controls Specialist
About the role
Our Project Management group is currently looking to add a Project Controls Specialist to the team, based in Dawson Creek, BC.
Reporting to the Project Manager, this position provides financial project controls and related services to support the Project Manager through all stages of project execution, including engineering and design, construction, commissioning and completion. It requires proficiency in schedule, cost and project reporting, change management, stakeholder relations, communication management and document control. The successful applicant will be required to hit the ground running and be able to work utilizing existing systems and also be comfortable developing these and/ or new tools to meet project requirements as the need arises.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and update project controls systems, including cost tracking tools and reporting dashboards
- Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking activities
- Support the development and maintenance of project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6
- Compile, format, and distribute regular project reports, including cost, schedule, and progress updates
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of project data across systems and reports
- Support change management processes, including tracking changes, variations, and approvals
- Assist with document control processes, ensuring proper versioning and document organization
- Track project performance metrics and highlight variances or risks to the project team
- Participate in regular project meetings and provide administrative and reporting support
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project controls processes, tools, and reporting
Requirements
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- 5 years experience in project cost control, forecasting, and earned value management supporting construction projects
- Proven experience with various project controls tools and systems (e.g., Excel, project financial systems, scheduling software or similar reporting tools)
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
- Previous experience with Pipeline Construction projects
