Air Canada is seeking a dynamic and technically strong Product Owner to lead the evolution and day to day management of our Departure Control System (DCS) within the Passenger Service Application ecosystem. This individual will play a central role in enabling efficient, safe, and customer focused airport and day of travel operations.
The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical expertise, airport operations knowledge, and product management capabilities, with the ability to bridge business needs and technology solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the product backlog for the Departure Control System, ensuring clear prioritization aligned with business objectives.
- Define, maintain, and continuously refine business rules, configuration settings, and system parameters.
- Write high quality user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure clarity of scope and successful delivery of features and enhancements.
- Support solution design discussions and make decisions that balance technical feasibility, business value, and operational impact.
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal customer groups including Airport Operations, System Operations Control, Revenue Management, Regulatory Affairs, and other business units.
- Gather, interpret, and compile operational and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate product updates, roadmap expectations, and release plans to stakeholders.
- Participate in and support QA activities, including test case validation, UAT coordination, and defect triage.
- Ensure system configurations and rules are correct, up to date, and supporting operational performance.
- Assist operational teams in issue analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause identification.
- Operate effectively in both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments.
- Partner with Scrum Masters, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and developers to ensure consistent and reliable delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of product processes, tools, and governance.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in a technology driven environment.
- Strong understanding of airport operations, day of travel workflows, or airline passenger systems (e.g., DCS, PSS, check in, boarding).
- Solid technical aptitude and the ability to understand system architecture, data flows, and configuration-driven systems.
- Proven experience writing clear, actionable user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience supporting or executing quality assurance activities.
- Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience working in an airline or large transportation environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory considerations affecting passenger processing.
- Knowledge of both Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and Waterfall delivery practices.
- Product Owner or Agile certification (CSPO, PSPO, etc.) is an asset.
