About the role
JOB SUMMARY:
An employee hired to perform custodial duties is responsible to the Director of Operations or designate.
The position is open for bid from external applicants.:
POSITION : This position is casual with no guarantee of hours to work in our Cranbrook and Elk Valley locations.
HOURS OF WORK : Twelve months per year position.
WAGE RATE : As per C.U.P.E Local 4165 Agreement $24.81
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Grade 12 or equivalent or willing to obtain
- Driver's License would be considered an asset
- Experience/formal training cleaning in a related field would be considered an asset.
- Computer skills would be an asset
**MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO: **
- Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Work with disagreeable conditions from time to time.
- Solve problems related to the position.
- Be self-directed, work independently and/or work collegially in a team environment.
- Perform the physical requirements of the job.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Operate a variety of equipment and tools related to the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Ensure secure, safe and sanitary conditions of the facility and grounds, such as setting alarms, locking doors, snow removal, dusting, sweeping, washing and garbage pickup.
- Perform cleaning, maintenance and restoration of floors. i.e., stripping and waxing.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies and order as needed.
- Operate and care for equipment related to the position.
- Make routine repairs regularly.
- Develop work methods in agreement with the Director of Operations or designate for assigned tasks.
- Report maintenance concerns to the principal/vice principal.
- Check daily with the school principal/vice principal for specific school needs.
- Complete daily checklist of duties.
- Perform other job-related duties.
