##Opportunity
The Department of Theatre in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval.
This internal competition is conducted under Article 33.5.7.10 of the Collective Agreement, where recruitment to the “Teaching and Service” stream is restricted to Members currently holding Sessional Extended appointments at the time of application in the Department of Theatre.
You will play an important role in the ongoing implementation of a new BFA in Music Theatre Performance and may have opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications.
The successful candidate will have the ability to teach students in the discipline of voice (singing). There is also potential to teach Voice Laboratory classes and interdisciplinary studies courses. The ability to work effectively in a student-centered, collegial environment is considered very important, and a vision towards developing new approaches to undergraduate music theatre voice education will be seen as an asset.
The Department of Theatre is situated within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications of MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta. Our students train in Allard Hall, a new state-of-the-art building that is part of MacEwan University’s downtown campus. MacEwan Music Theatre Performance has been part of the city’s vibrant arts community since the early 1970s, and its newly developed 4-year BFA program builds on its reputation as one of the finest post-secondary music theatre training programs in Canada.
Candidates will hold a minimum of a Master's degree or equivalent professional experience and will demonstrate experience in and a commitment to undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will have a commitment to innovative pedagogy and teaching practices.
