About the role
The Cook's Assistant works under limited supervision and in accordance with catering or tally sheets in prioritizing, preparing and storing a variety of fresh ingredients and foods that will be served to patients. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to lift 20 pounds (9 kg) above shoulder height, required. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds (27.2kg), required. Basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal skills and training in customer relations. Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow directions and guidelines. High standards for cleanliness and sanitation. High levels of honesty and integrity. Clear Criminal Records Check. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.
Preferred Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education & experience may be considered. WHMIS certificate desired. Food safe certificate desired. One year of food service experience in a hospital/institutional setting is desired. Previous food service experience in a restaurant/cafeteria setting or customer service experience may be considered desirable in combination with other qualifications. WHMIS Certificate, desired.
