Corrpro Canada is Canada's largest corrosion engineering, cathodic protection, and corrosion monitoring business for the protection and preservation of infrastructure. POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of senior personnel, the Corrosion Technician I supports the testing, evaluation and installation of cathodic protection systems. This is an entry level position which is directly supervised with little decision making or responsibility. A successful Corrosion Technician I will be able to learn and adequately demonstrate basic testing, evaluation, and installation skills.
WHAT YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Conduct various specific test procedures to gather data for evaluation purposes.
- Gather structure-to-soil potential data, soil measurements and rectifier data.
- Learning the complexities of a Cathodic Protection system and how they work.
- Sketch rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and other design features on prepared drawings.
- Assist senior personnel in the preparation of survey reports and final job reports.
- Sketch physical features of installation site for subsequent detail.
- Organize and reduce data gathered, prepare charts and tables.
- Assemble data for preparation of final client report including service recommendations.
- Diagnose and recommend remedies for system difficulties observed during resurvey operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and/or Experience: Technical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience. No previous experience required, AMPP CP1 with 1-2 years of experience and asset. Class 5 driver’s license.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform arithmetic calculations and apply basic mathematical concepts.
- Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists and interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Physical Demands: In the performance of duties for this position, there is frequent standing and walking required throughout the day. Occasional climbing required. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting required. Frequent driving is required. May require long stints of walking with equipment. May be required to lift 75 pounds. Occasional computer-related activities, such as typing and viewing a computer monitor are required.
- Work Environment: In performing the duties for this job, the employee will generally work outside in weather conditions near job sites with moving vehicles and mechanical operations. Will be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate. Travel by automobile and airplane required.
