About the role

**Location -**This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
The Curriculum Specialist for the BUS Courses provides strategic, pedagogical, and operational leadership across the series of undergraduate BUS Courses in the Alberta School of Business. This role ensures a cohesive student learning experience, alignment of curriculum across multiple large-enrollment courses, and the effective integration of the Impact Series throughout the program.
The Curriculum Specialist collaborates closely with instructors, Curriculum Coordinators, administrative staff, and external stakeholders, and operates within established academic frameworks, institutional policies, and school priorities. The position supports instructional teams through evidence-informed pedagogical guidance, facilitates team operations, oversees Impact Series implementation, and contributes to ongoing curricular improvements. In addition, the role supports student performance tracking data-informed curriculum decision-making, and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) initiatives to inform continuous improvement across the BUS Course series.
The Curriculum Specialist, BUS Courses demonstrates strong leadership, team-building, and strategic planning skills, which are essential in supporting a large and diverse group of instructional and administrative stakeholders. The position contributes to a collaborative and inclusive working environment in which instructors and staff are supported to be successful, grow, and thrive, advancing the school’s commitment to high-quality teaching, student success, and continuous improvement in business education.

Lead coordination and management of BUS course teams, including meetings, retreats, and planning sessions.

Provide direction and support to Curriculum Coordinators and instructional teams.

Align decisions, resolve challenges, and ensure consistency across all BUS courses.

Oversee integration, planning, and promotion of the Impact Series experiential learning activities, including partnerships and events.

Drive continuous improvement in course design, delivery, and coordination across the series.

Identify operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate issues in large-course delivery.

Support administrative operations such as course scheduling, budgeting, and process standardization.

Maintain curriculum alignment and coherence across courses to support student learning pathways.

Use data, feedback, and evidence-based practices to evaluate and enhance curriculum and teaching.

Provide pedagogical guidance on learning outcomes, assessments, and instructional strategies.

Track and analyze student performance data to inform improvements and support research initiatives.

Contribute to teaching (up to one course per term) based on program needs.

Graduate degree in Education, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
-
Minimum four years of experience in instructional design, teaching and learning in higher education, Business education, training and development, or in a post-secondary environment or a related field.

Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or academic program coordination.

Experience working with large, multi-section courses or complex academic programs.
-
Familiarity with assessment strategy and data-informed approaches to evaluating student learning and curriculum effectiveness.

Demonstrated supervisory experience.

Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft, Google Apps, and relational databases.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to simplify actions/solutions in complex situations.

Outstanding project management skills, including managing projects, and groups within a defined time frame.

Superior oral and written communication, exceptional organizational skills, interpersonal and relationship building ability; strong commitment to the client with a positive and professional approach.

This position has a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary range of $67,384 to $112,298.
The terms and conditions of this appointment are governed by Schedule F of the collective agreement between the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta and the Association of Academic Staff of the University of Alberta.
