##Summary
E Construction, a division of NPA, is hiring a safety coordinator for the upcoming 2026 construction season!
Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of activities and initiatives aimed at protecting employees, contractors and the public from injuries, incidents and hazards. This position uses a multiple approach method, geared at educating employees in safety culture and awareness, acting as a resource for all safety related concerns, conducting workplace investigations and inspections, and enforcing company safety policies and procedures.
##Key Responsibilities
- Champion the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work with various departments and investigation team to investigate damage, incidents or near misses in the worksite, to determine root cause and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company’s Safety Program.
- Oversee and enforce compliance with all OH&S regulations and remain current on impending legislation changes.
- Monitor and evaluate WCB return to work progress and work cooperatively with the employee and supervisor to adjust return to work plans as necessary.
- Regularly conduct worksite inspections and audits; monitoring sites to ensure they are effectively completing and updating all required safety documents.
- Ensure sub-contractor compliance with company safety policies and guidelines, and ensure they have their Certificate of Recognition (C.O.R.) and valid WCB accounts.
- Participate in C.O.R. audit process.
- Act as first point of contact for regional safety initiatives, concerns, questions or general information.
- Assist with training matrix and associated costing for regional employees.
- Work in collaboration with the Safety Development Manager to determine any special training needs.
- Assist Project Coordinators with traffic accommodation planning, which may include drafting, reviewing, and submitting.
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work with Safety Department to investigate damage, incidents or near misses in the worksite, and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company’s Safety Program.
- Participate as a team member and contribute towards the success of the organization which may involve providing other technical and administrative support, as required.
- Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with, the principles of the Code of Ethics.
- Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
##Qualifications | Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D is required.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NSCO) is required.
- Class 5 driver’s license required.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, WCB and Provincial/ Federal job and industry specific legislation.
- Knowledge of National Safety Carrier Program (NSC) considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years experience within a safety department
- Previous road construction experience is an asset.
##Working Conditions
- Out-of-town/overnight travel may be required.
- Overtime as required, including phone calls and incident(s) call outs.
- Work environment consists of indoor and outdoor settings, depending on operations.
- Work may be performed in an indoor setting, which could include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, and extended computer use including exposure to blue-light and wrist dexterity.
- Work may be performed in an outdoor setting which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 20 LBS on a regular basis.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment as required.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
