Your Opportunity:
The Instructor works within TB Services, Public Health, CDC & Screening of Primary Care Alberta and reports to the Manager of the Edmonton Tuberculosis Clinic. The Instructor supports the clinical practice of staff based out of the Edmonton TB Clinic and Central TB Services, and functions as an expert resource to help ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality tuberculosis prevention and control services. The Instructor leads staff education, orientation, training, and competency development, and supports practice reinforcement through structured teaching, competency tracking, and local clinical process support. The Instructor acts as a key clinical resource for practice standards, processes, skills, competencies, and day-to-day decision making related to TB clinical care, case management, and contact investigation, and uses quality assurance activities such as chart audits and documentation review to identify learning needs and practice gaps. The Instructor also provides TB education, consultation, and guidance to local partners, both internal and external. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining orientation materials and clinical competencies, delivering education sessions, maintaining education records and competency sign-offs, supporting implementation of clinic procedures, and reinforcing timely and accurate documentation and workflow practices. This position is not eligible for remote work.
Description:
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Five years of recent experience in tuberculosis prevention and control is required, along with working knowledge of communicable disease control and the ability to apply TB standards, guidelines, and recommendations to day-to-day clinical practice. Successful completion of a Master’s degree in a healthcare related field is required. The Instructor must be able to lead staff education, orientation, training, and competency development, including developing and maintaining orientation plans and competency sign-off expectations, delivering education sessions, and ensuring education records and competency tracking are maintained. The role requires demonstrated ability to act as a key clinical resource for practice standards, processes, skills, competencies, and day-to-day decision-making related to TB clinical care, case management, and contact investigation. The position also requires demonstrated experience using quality assurance and improvement activities, such as chart audits and documentation review, to identify practice gaps and support implementation of clinic procedures to ensure consistent adoption. Strong consultation and communication skills are required to provide TB guidance, education, and support to internal and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a formal nurse educator or leadership role is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to support education and practice alignment across multiple sites through shared resources, practice reinforcement, and collaboration with program partners. Proficiency with TB program systems, workflows, and data use to identify trends, learning needs, and support documentation and follow-up is an asset.
