Summary of Position

Reporting to the project Foreman, this position will assist the Pipelayer and crew members to perform all water and sewer activities in a safe and efficient manner.

Role and Responsibilities

• Assist in aligning pipes during water main and sewer construction

• Load and unload tools, materials and equipment

• Mix, pour, cut and perform other concrete related tasks

• Operate industrial equipment and hand tools

• Perform manual and physically demanding labour duties as assigned

• Signal and direct equipment operators

• lift and transport plywood and air struts

• dig around pipe and/or utilities

• Roll pump hoses, operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators, and tampers as directed

• Rig up chains and straps to transfer manhole material

Qualifications, Training and Education

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unaided

• Class 5 Driver’s license

• Confined Space Entry/Monitor

• Fall Protection

• H2S Alive

• CSTS 2020

• WHMIS 2015

Working Conditions

A Pipelayer Helper is responsible for performing physically demanding work in different positions (kneeling, standing, etc.). They are working outdoors in dusty and underground environments through all kinds of weather
