Position Summary Reporting to the Chief Professional Sustainability Officer (CPSO), the Director, Experience and Engagement is responsible for the strategic leadership, integration, and performance of APEGA’s Experience and Engagement functions across the professional lifecycle. This role provides oversight of Customer Services, Engagement, Access and Opportunity, and Continuing Education, ensuring a coordinated and consistent approach to the registrant experience, stakeholder engagement, and learning and development. The director is accountable for developing and implementing strategies that support the registrant lifecycle, including engagement, continuing education, and the registrant benefits program. The director ensures these functions operate as an integrated system, aligning service delivery, engagement initiatives, and learning programs to support APEGA’s regulatory mandate, strategic priorities, and evolving stakeholder needs.
Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of the Experience and Engagement strategy across the Customer Services, Engagement, Access and Opportunity, and Continuing Education teams. Ensure alignment of all functions with APEGA’s regulatory mandate, strategic objectives, and professional sustainability priorities. Integrate customer and registrant services, engagement, access and opportunity, and learning initiatives into a cohesive experience across the registrant lifecycle (students through to practising professionals). Establish and communicate strategic direction, priorities, and expectations across all functions. Ensure the Experience and Engagement portfolio delivers on defined outcomes, including registrant experience, participation, and professional development. Establish and monitor performance metrics across all functions, including service delivery, registrant benefits program value, access and opportunity, engagement, and learning outcomes. Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. Drive improvements to enhance quality, accessibility, value, efficiency, and consistency of services and programs. Ensure managers are effectively leading their teams and delivering on program and service objectives. Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive leadership team. Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and service excellence. Support leadership development and succession planning within the function. Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, partners, post-secondary institutions, and professional associations. Develop and maintain relationships with benefit program partners and vendors. Provide staff leadership to the Women in APEGA Advisory Group Ensure functions operate within regulatory, organizational, and governance frameworks. Provide strategic advice to the CPSO and executive team on experience, engagement, access and opportunity, benefits program, and learning-related matters. Oversee budgets, resource allocation, and operational planning across the portfolio.

Qualifications Post-secondary degree in a related field (business, commerce). 8-10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience. Experience leading multiple teams or functions within a complex organization . Experience in program strategy, service delivery, or engagement environments. Experience working with stakeholders across professional, regulatory, or public environments. Understanding of APEGA’s statutory obligations under the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act, regulations, bylaws, related practice standards, legislation, including the Labour Mobility Act and Personal Information Protection Act, and applicable policies and procedures is considered an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
