Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Leader plays a key role assisting in recreation programming opportunities for NAIT students. The Campus Recreation Team offers active living opportunities to students to enhance campus vibrancy and overall experience outside the classroom. The role will work closely with the Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Coordinators to ensure a shared focus on program creation and delivery. This position will contribute to the ongoing success of drop-in programs, intramural sports, eSports initiatives, outdoor programming opportunities and large-scale recreation events across campus.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing the best recreation experiences for NAIT students.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in organizing and executing recreational programs. Contribute to the planning, promotion and execution of various events put on by the Recreation department. Provide exceptional customer service to all participants. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants. Set up equipment and materials needed for recreational activities. Promote and encourage students to participate in recreational activities. Assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of recreational facilities. Attend meetings and training sessions as required. Commit to inclusivity and respect for all participants and staff.
Skills & Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. Experience in athletics and/or recreational activities, either as a participant or as an organizer. Physical ability to lift and move equipment, set up and take down activity areas. Knowledge of Recreation programs offered at NAIT
Qualifications
Completion of grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience Some experience in retail or customer service environment Must be a NAIT student who enrolled in the 2026-2027 academic year. Must have the ability to work during academically heavy periods, such as mid-term and exam periods. Must be available to support events before, in between, and after class.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
Classification – Customer Service Representative I
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
Remuneration Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus 12% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation pay.
The compensation range for this job posting is : $17.85 - $23.99
