About the role
Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the safe and efficient coordination of all scheduled maintenance and urgent corrective work across the Hanlan‑Robb Gas Plant and North Edson field area. This role serves as a key liaison supporting Foremen and Superintendents while working collaboratively with HSER, Technical Services, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.
The Role As part of the North Field and Hanlan Plant Operations team, the Maintenance Coordinator plays a central role in maintaining asset reliability and ensuring effective execution of maintenance activities.
This is a full-time position based at the Hanlan‑Robb Gas Plant, consisting of a 40‑hour work week.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain processing reliability across all Canlin Energy assets.
- Coordinate responses to maintenance events and ensure a timely return to steady-state operations.
- Develop the two‑week schedule for maintenance employees and contractors.
- Own and manage the maintenance backlog.
- Ensure maintenance personnel are allocated effectively between field and plant operations.
- Support procurement of parts and materials required for short‑term maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with Calgary-based maintenance coordinators to maintain effective scheduling and consistent maintenance processes.
- Manage and mentor district maintenance employees and contractors.
- Demonstrate and uphold all Canlin rules, guidelines, policies, and operational procedures.
- Assist in the assessment, development, and maintenance of maintenance procedures.
- Process Maximo reactive work requests through the full work cycle.
- Provide feedback to the maintenance team regarding vendor performance.
- Challenge maintenance scopes to promote consistency and right‑sizing of work.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function.
- Leverage technologies within Canlin’s portfolio to enhance reliability, communication, and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Participate in after‑hours on‑call coordination as required.
The Person The successful candidate will operate within a highly collaborative environment and must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and time‑management skills. The role involves daily problem‑solving and requires sound judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to safe work practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Journeyman certification in a relevant trade (Electrician, Instrumentation, Mechanic, Pipefitter, etc.) preferred.
- Experience operating within sour gas facilities, wells, or gathering systems is an asset.
- 10+ years of maintenance experience in upstream oil and sour gas plant or field environments.
- 5+ years of experience working with Maximo, or comparable MMS software
- Training or experience in Situational Leadership, time management, or change management.
- Experience managing teams in a unionized environment.
- High school diploma required.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
- Certifications: H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG.
- Ability to adapt to process changes and evolving procedures.
- Strong computer literacy and familiarity with automated operations systems.
- Proven analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
- Demonstrates initiative, brings forward new ideas, and contributes to positive change.
- Creative, self‑motivated, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Competent in having crucial conversations and navigating challenging discussions.
