Job Description:
Position Purpose Summary:
The Crisis Housing Liaison’s primary responsibility is to prevent Individuals entering homelessness, redirect individuals out of homelessness from all different living situations and preventing further entrenchment into homelessness.
Accountabilities:
- Work with people who are homeless or near homeless to provide referrals and guidance to assist them in diverting from entering the shelter system
- Review referrals to determine if they meet the eligibility requirements of the program
- Provides emergency/crisis intervention and short-term case management
- Complete VI-SPDAT’s as needed
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with program partners and other community agencies
- Serve as liaison between individuals and community
- Work with internal resources to provide assistance
- Record and maintain stats on individuals served
- Enter all required information into HIFIS (Intakes, case notes, referrals, housing history, etc.)
- Assist in housing search when needed
- Follow up and coordinate with other service providers to ensure individuals are referred to appropriate supports
- Participate in required meetings and trainings with The Salvation Army and the RMWB
- Conduct immediate and long-term follow up to ascertain the effectiveness of the program
- Transport Clients as required
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisor

- Maintain communications with community individuals/caseload

- Maintain communication with community funders and other agencies or community supports
MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership Responsibility:
- Reports directly to: Team Lead
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a temporary fixed term position of one year. Full-time hours at 40 hours per week. Weekly schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm with a 1 hour paid meal break.
- Works in an office within the administrative office
- Meets one-on-one with Individuals in various locations throughout the region (If they cannot come to us). Some locations could potentially be a high-risk environment.
- May have to deal with aggressive and/or disruptive people. Potential of verbal, and less likely physical, attacks.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or two-year Diploma/Certificate in a related field
- Two - five years’ experience working with homeless and near homeless adults
- Candidates without a degree but who have relevant and related experience will also be considered
- Satisfactory Police Information Check (PIC) with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Current First Aid Certificate with Level A or C CPR from an Alberta approved training provider
- Applied Suicided Intervention Skills Training considered an asset
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 licenses with clear driving abstract
- Provided proof of insurance with 2 million liability
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Two – five years working within social services, housing first, detox, addiction treatment Centre’s, mental health programs with homeless and near homeless adults
- Ability to work with diverse groups
- Ability to work with individuals who present with addiction and mental health issues
- At least two years’ experience delivering community-based services
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral techniques
- Experience networking with a range of partners and stakeholders
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of poverty-related issues, trends, and services, particularly within, but not limited to the urban Indigenous population
Skills and Capabilities:
- Able to solve problems for clients quickly, creatively and ethically
- Able to work in a respectful and client-centered manner
- Understand how to apply de-escalation techniques
- Flexible and adaptable to change
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Works with initiative, commitment and enthusiasm; physically fit
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint)
- Familiar with entering data into databases, such as the Efforts to Outcomes system
Target pay rate for this position is $31.00 per hour.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $25.29 to $31.62 with a maximum of $37.94.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
