The Role
We are currently recruiting for experienced Journeyman and Apprentice Ironworkers to join our team at Kearl Oil Sands, a major oil sands site in Northern Alberta. The successful candidates will work in a safety-first environment on a 14/14 rotation. Camp accommodations and meals provided. Charter flights provided from designated hubs in Edmonton and Calgary with flight allowances based on the province located.
This project is 6 months in duration.
Compensation/Benefits
- CLAC hourly wages
- Payday is every Friday
- Company contributed RRSP & Pension contributions
- Benefits after 300 hours
- Paid training
- 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on regular earnings
- OT at 1.5 after 8 hours per day
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and project drawings
- Install and align structural steel components including columns, beams and platforms
- Use cranes, rigging and hoisting equipment to lift and position heavy materials
- Bolt, weld or rivet steel assemblies per engineered specifications
- Work on elevated platforms and scaffolding within confined spaces or remote site areas
- Ensure proper handling and installation of steel in accordance with environmental and project safety regulations
- Collaborate with other trades and disciplines to meet schedule deadlines
- Adhere to OCL Group safety procedures
Skills/Education/Qualifications
- Journeyperson Ironworker Certification
- Registered Apprentice
- Experience with multiplate assembly is preferred and considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in an industrial setting is an asset
- Strong rigging, fitting and steel erecting experience
- Must have valid safety tickets: OSSA, CSTS-2020, Fall Protection, WHMIS 2015
- Ensure a safe team environment
- Adhere to all company and worksite safety and quality processes and procedures
- Strong communication skills
- Desire to work in a team environment
- Comfortable working outside in various weather conditions
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Must complete a criminal background check
