We’re seeking an experienced Water Systems Operations Advisor to join our Utilities team at Base Plant. You’ll provide expert guidance and technical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and optimized operations across our production units and drive performance, reliability, and continuous improvement in all facets of our operations.

Minimum Requirements:

• 10 years of experience in boiler feedwater treatment, wastewater treatment, potable water, or water distribution
• Water treatment certification (preferably level II)
• Strong understanding of process operations, optimization, and safety systems
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, lead cross‑functional initiatives, and communicate effectively
• Experience with process safety and risk management tools

Responsibilities:

• Support daily conduct of safe operations, optimize production performance and provide expert operational guidance to meet targets
• Partner with the area manager to communicate and execute daily operating priorities with shift teams
• Support and sustain Operational Excellence Management System processes by creating, reviewing, and improving operating procedures and documents to promote safety, compliance, and consistency
• Oversee commissioning and start‑up activities, ensuring safe execution and completion of Pre‑Startup Reviews (PSR)
• Act as the point of contact between operations and technical teams by troubleshooting process issues, providing subject matter expertise during non‑routine events, and help drive reliable, efficient plant performance
• Represent Operations in Process Hazard Assessments (PHA), HazOps, and Technical Operating Envelope (TOE) reviews
• Promote efficiency and reliability initiatives, integrate lessons learned, and support operational readiness for both short‑term and long‑range production goals Contribute to long‑range production planning and support strategic coordination for turnarounds, outages, and key production milestones

Location and other Key Details:

• You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta

• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

• This position is safety sensitive

• Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
