The Grande Prairie Public School Division is seeking a Lifeguard for Crystal Park School. The Lifeguard ensures the safety of staff and students at Crystal Park’s aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. The successful candidate requires the skills to apply lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques , and the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Qualifications And Experience
One (1) year of experience as a crew chief or in an aquatic leadership role. Experience in pool operations. Other combinations of education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered .
Required Credentials
High School Diploma . National Lifeguard Service (NLS) award . Standard First Aid and CPR Level C . AEC (Aquatic Emergency Care) . Transportation of Dangerous Goods training . WHMIS Certificate . Water Safety Instructor, Adapted Aquatics (an asset) . Maintain membership in the Lifesaving Society . Must maintain all relevant certifications .
Key Responsibilities
Maintain constant surveillance of staff and students in the pool; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of staff/students in the event of an emergency. Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. Create pool schedule and then monitor , update, and communicate changes on an ongoing basis. Test water chemistry and complete routine chemical additions daily. Maintain inventory and order required supplies such as pool chemicals, first aid items, and pool equipment. Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports. Update and maintain Aquatic Procedure Manual. Other duties as assigned.
