McLeod Elementary School

McLeod Elementary is situated 42 km west of Dawson Creek and serves the farming communities of Progress, Sunset Prairie and Groundbirch. It is a K-7 school with an enrolment of 45 students. The staff consists of 1 teaching administrator, 3 full-time teachers, 1 education assistant.

The school was constructed in 1967 to replace several one-room schools, which then served each community. All students are bused to the school. The 2002/03 school year saw the completion of a Community Hall at the school which serves all three communities. The project was developed as a partnership between School District 59 and the communities involved represented by the Peace River Regional District.

**Required qualifications and experience: **

• Hold, or be qualified for, a valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate

• Engages in fair, student focused assessment practices consistent with the BC curriculum and reporting order, and reflects on evidence of learning to guide instruction

• Relocation Allowance: Up to $5,000 for out of district applicants (with submission of approved receipts)
• Northern Travel Allowance: A Great Benefit at Tax Time! An amount of up to $4,000 of the salary paid to the employee shall be designated as a Northern Allowance Travel benefit. This allowance shall be in effect within the guidelines of Revenue Canada as they exist and are changed by Revenue Canada from year to year and shall end when the Revenue Canada program ends. Effective December 31, 2025 School District No. 59 teachers are eligible for the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program for up to $30,000.

• A basic residency amount of $5.50 for each day that you lived in this zone; plus
• An additional residency amount of $5.50 for each day you lived in this zone if you maintained a dwelling and you are the only person claiming the basic residency amount for that period and dwelling
