About the role
The Data Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day integrity and usability of IMS's core business data. This role focuses on extracting, transforming, and loading data to support inventory, sales, and vendor reporting, ensuring that the information the organization relies on is clean, complete, and trustworthy. Working closely with the Product Data Specialist and cross-functional teams, this role executes data management processes, maintains the product and customer databases, performs regular audits, and builds reports that keep operations running smoothly. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, comfortable with structured data work, and motivated by the satisfaction of making complex systems reliable and accurate.
Responsibilities:
Data Analysis:
- Collect, clean, and analyze data related to inventory and sales
- Utilize data visualization tools to present complex information in a clear and intuitive manner.
- Ensure that ERP database does not have missing data from key fields in accordance with data governance principles
- Ensure that mandatory fields are filled more than 95% of the time for active products/customers/vendors
Business Intelligence and Reporting:
- Extract, transform, and load data to create reports on inventory levels for branches and product lines.
- Extract sales history and create reports on sales data by branch, product line, and customer.
- Utilize PowerQuery, PowerApps, PowerAutomate and PowerBI to facilitate reporting and automation needs.
Process Optimization:
- Implement and monitor key metrics to evaluate the success of process improvements.
- Adhered to data-driven decision-making processes across the organization.
Systems and Data Management:
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data integrity, quality, and security.
- Assist in the integration and maintenance of systems and tools related to inventory and sales
- Support data governance initiatives and ensure compliance with data regulations.
- Ensure quarterly audits of mandatory data fields are completed and followed up on
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements and contribute to system implementation projects.
- Maintain and update underlying database mapping to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
System Maintenance Support
- Perform product master updates, including pricing and descriptions.
- Perform full product line updates, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure 100% of products from top vendors are listed in detail in our product master
- Perform vendor master and customer master checks and updates to ensure data is complete
- Maintain the Customer Quote Database by formatting excel sheets, cross-referencing customer product numbers, and performing data uploads.
- Find and validate cross-reference data between our product data and vendor product data to ensure smoother interchange of data between IMS and our partners.

Mandatory Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Business Analyst, preferably in the plumbing and heating wholesale industry.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in data interpretation, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling.
- Proficiency with AS400 ERP platforms.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI)
- Proficiency with Microsoft’s data and automation tools (Fabric, PowerQuery)
- Familiarity with Microsoft’s full suite of apps (PowerAutomate, PowerApps, SharePoint)
- Familiarity with SQL and database management.
- Knowledge of inventory management, sales operations, and pricing strategies.
- Experience in demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and sales performance analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
