Job Summary
Dalhousie University, under the leadership of the Vice-President Research & Innovation, administers over $270M annually in research funding. Reporting to the Manager, Institutional and Industry Programs, the Facilitator contributes to the Dalhousie research enterprise by facilitating research applications to and awards from external funding agencies and promoting external research funding opportunities to the research community, with a particular focus on industry and institutional research funding programs.
Key Responsibilities

Provides expert guidance to researchers on the preparation, review, and submission of competitive funding applications, ensuring compliance with university and agency requirements.

Coordinates end-to-end application processes, including budget development, document preparation, institutional approvals, and adherence to strict deadlines.

Reviews and approves research applications and agreements for senior institutional sign-off, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and risk mitigation.

Advises on and facilitates complex research collaborations and agreements, working with legal and contracts teams to support multi-institutional and industry partnerships.

Leads outreach and capacity-building initiatives by delivering training, consultations, and strategic advice to strengthen proposal development and research success.

Ensures compliance with university and funding agency policies while supporting financial oversight, reporting, and research administration processes.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
-
Master’s degree with a minimum of five years’ experience in research administration or related environment (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).

Demonstrated experience working in a service unit that provides expert advice and support.
-
Tact, sensitivity and diplomacy, and well-developed interpersonal skills are essential for dealing with researchers and various stakeholders.
-
Demonstrated experience in deadline-driven, fast-paced, high-volume environment and manage multiple tasks while paying attention to detail.
-
Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying policy information to ensure compliance with guidelines, policies, and regulations.

Proficient technological skills in PowerPoint and other multimedia, word processing, financial spreadsheets, e-mail, database management, and electronic file transfer.
