Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
The VAW Research Team, led by Dr. Alexa Yakubovich, is seeking highly motivated candidates for a Postdoctoral Fellowship within the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada). The successful candidate will work on action-oriented, intervention research focused on strengthening systems responses to violence against women and gender diverse people. The team works with community, practice, and policy partners on studies that use qualitative, quantitative, mixed, and knowledge synthesis methods to understand burdens of violence and evaluate intervention and policy responses. The postdoctoral fellowship will be situated within a federally (CIHR) funded project focused on designing, implementing, and evaluating intervention strategies to strengthen health systems responses to domestic and sexualized violence in Canada, with a particular focus on the province of Nova Scotia. Under the supervision of Dr. Yakubovich, the Postdoctoral Fellow will take a leadership role in supporting partner engagement, protocol development, qualitative and quantitative data collection, data management and analysis, and the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be involved in intervention research, implementation science, and partnership-based research projects using mixed methods. The successful candidate will be supported in applying for competitive postdoctoral fellowships.
Key responsibilities:

Support and manage research activities, including developing research protocols, supporting the design of intervention activities and implementation strategies, design and piloting surveys and interview guides,

Support participant recruitment, conduct of surveys and interviews, engagement of non-academic partners, and organizing meetings.

Perform qualitative data analysis, including preparing datasets, coding, and contributing to the development of thematic frameworks.

Perform quantitative data analysis, including cleaning data, running descriptive and inferential statistics, and producing results tables and summaries.

Prepare knowledge translation outputs, including writing academic papers and delivering presentations.

Support and collaborate with research staff and trainees contributing to the research project.

Prepare grant and fellowship applications.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Required qualifications:
- PhD in health or social sciences by the appointment start
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in an academic research environment with leadership responsibilities.
- Experience or qualifications related to implementation science or intervention research.
- Excellent project management skills and experience managing staff or students, budgets, and other project resources.
- Experience with both qualitative and quantitative data collection.
- Experience using qualitative (e.g., NVivo or Dedoose) and quantitative analytic software (e.g., Stata or R).
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- Publication record, including as first author, in peer-reviewed journals in the health or social sciences
Assets:
- Mixed-methods research skills.
- Experience with grant writing.
- Experience conducting partnership-based research.
- A demonstrated interest in preventing violence against women and gender-based violence, supporting survivors of violence, or promoting gender and intersectional equity.

Salary Range/Pay Rate
$70,000 per year plus benefits
