About The Opportunity
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Pedorthist is responsible for a complex clinical caseload including responsibility for ensuring the timely assessment, design, fabrication, and fit of foot inserts, custom pedorthic devices, and/or special shoes for people requiring support or correction due to musculoskeletal damage, disease, or deformity. The Pedorthist contributes to multiple teams and works within the Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics area of the Assistive Technology Department, providing pedorthic care to both admitted (inpatient) and community dwelling (outpatient) individuals.. The Pedorthist is responsible for ensuring the provision of quality pedorthic devices for patients with diverse needs, documenting findings and introducing new technology as it becomes available. The Pedorthist assists in the training and development of apprentice and junior staff and is involved in the implementation of quality assurance guidelines and participation on various committees.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
Diploma in Pedorthic studies Certification with College of Pedorthics of Canada - C.Ped (C) Certified Practicing Member in Good standing of the Pedorthic Association of Canada 1-3 years' employment in pedorthics, including assessment, fabrication, dispensing, shoe fitting and shoe modifications Experience working in a hospital setting an asset Demonstrate strong assessment & fabrication skills Experience fitting diabetic and customized shoes Demonstrate strong decision and problem solving skills Knowledge of safe work practices and excellent technical skills using power tools Ability to establish therapeutic and collaborative relationships with patients and members of the health care team Understanding of and commitment to the protection of patients’ personal health information and associated hospital policies and procedures Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills Demonstrate creativity and use of unique and innovative solutions to provide individual treatment for patients Demonstrate strong computer skills in data entry and electronic communication Familiarity with insurance coverage issues is an asset Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
Full Time Long Assignment; 75 Hours Bi-weekly Approximately 12 month term
Compensation And Benefits
$36.56 - $46.63 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
