Req ID: 223114Location: Central Zone, Halifax Infirmary Robie Street Entrance - QEII Department: OPCZ PERI Medical Device Reprocess HIType of Employment: Permanent Hourly FT (100%) x 1 Union: NSGEU Support PositionPosting Closing Date: 9-Jul-26About the Opportunity Reporting to the Manager and Supervisor of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the MDR Resource Technician is responsible for implementing, organizing and maintaining equipment write-ups (SOP’s) for MDR patient care and OR surgical instrumentation & equipment. The Technician reviews Manufacturer's Instructions For Use literature in order to approve instrumentation and equipment to be purchased, orders and maintains implant inventory, liaises with the OR regarding equipment, supplies, pick tickets and scheduling issues, creates and updates item master back up list, updates procedure back-up maps and photographs new equipment/instruments for the write-ups. All responsibilities are carried out in adherence to professional standards, manufacturer’s instructions and departmental policies and procedures. The MDR Tech ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work as NSHA such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviors, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships, and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
Grade 12 Successful completion of an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program (course with practicum preferred) Minimum 3 years recent experience as Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Certification or must successfully complete within 3 months of start Formal education in anatomy, medical terminology, microbiology, infection control preferred Membership with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Nova Scotia preferred Computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Knowledge of systems such as SAP, PHS, SIMS and HSM Knowledge of Infection Control measures and Routine Practices Demonstrated organizational skills and a high degree of initiative and self-motivation are required Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and comprehension skills Critical thinking skills to aid with problem solving An aptitude for tasks requiring manual dexterity and technical skill Required to carry up to a maximum of 30 pounds. Position includes repetitive bending, lifting, pushing and pulling carts. Constant standing and walking. Exposure to chemicals, blood and body fluids and extreme heat and humidity as well as loud noise Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
