The School of Earth, Environment & Society invites applications for the following teaching position to be offered in the2025-26 Session. This course is co-taught with a faculty member.

Number of Units per Section: 1.5 units (the course will be co-taught with Dr. Maureen Padden and is equivalent to 1.5 units of teaching for the sessional)
Location (on/off campus): ONLINE with in-person labs typically led by TAs (labs held in BSB 340 A/B)

Projected TA Support: 65 Hours (dependent on enrolment)
Wage Rate: $4461.34 – As per schedule “A” of the CUPE, Local 3906, Unit 2 Collective Agreement, the Sessional Faculty rate is $8,922.68 for 3 units; this rate has been prorated for 1.5 units.
Start Time and Duration: May 4-June 19 (exam period as arranged by instructor in class time); online, asynchronous lectures; labs run Tuesdays and Wednesdays 7:00pm-9:00pm (typically led by TAs)
Course Description:
An introduction to Earth’s composition and processes including topics such as rocks, fossils, plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, and glaciers. We will consider the interactions between people and Earth’s environments and the implications for sustainable development.
Required Qualifications
The successful applicant will have previous experience teaching this course, or similar courses, at the university level and/or appropriate academic qualifications (at least a MA/MSc in a relevant field of study).

-Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement. The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount. If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.

Pay Transparency Statement
The starting salary will not be less than $17,845.36 per 6 units, or $8,922.68 per 3 units.
