About the role
Job Purpose
The Sales Representative – Specialty Products is accountable for driving national growth across diverse product lines by developing and executing strategic sales initiatives. This role focuses on expanding market presence, fostering strong customer relationships, and collaborating with production teams to deliver on business objectives. The role requires strong commercial acumen, strategic planning, and the ability to deliver consistent results through effective leadership and cross-functional alignment.
Duties and responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Sales Representative – Specialty Products include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with growth targets.
- Identify high-value opportunities and emerging market trends.
- Accountable for budget planning, monitoring, and control.
- Build strong relationships with key accounts to drive retention and growth.
- Drive revenue growth by identifying, targeting, and securing opportunities in new markets
- Prepare business cases to support expansion and new initiatives.
- Drive sales of specialty products and strengthen brand recognition.
- Ensure alignment between demand, production capabilities, and commercial plans.
- Manage relationships and sales for key accounts
- Responsible for attending customer sites and major conferences/tradeshows across Canada and the U.S., with travel requirements of up to 35%.
- Collaborate with sales representatives by offering expertise, coaching moments, and practical advice to enhance their effectiveness.”
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive sales experience, preferably in asphalt, construction materials, or industrial products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline is preferred
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in a competitive market.
- Familiarity with asphalt products, paving processes, and construction industry standards.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and communicate effectively with production teams.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills for market research and business case development.
- Strong collaborator with the ability to support and work effectively with team members
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will be working from McAsphalt Head Office as a home base with required in office hours and frequent visits to sites across Canada and the United States of America. On going use to a computer is required. Travel up to 50%
Salary Range
$85,000-$105,000
