Position Overview
As a Sustainability & Waste Management Coordinator at Cabot Cape Breton, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing the resort's waste management program at the highest industry standards. Your responsibilities include regular collection of refuse and recycling waste from various point throughout property, ensuring deficiencies in compliance are reported to relevant managers and consistently working to ensure Cabot Cape Breton continues to minimize its carbon footprint and enhancing its sustainability efforts. Attention to detail, a proactive approach, and the ability to work efficiently are essential qualities for this role. By contributing to the overall upkeep and appearance of the resort, you will create a positive environment for both guests and colleagues, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience at Cabot Cape Breton.

- Waste Management Oversight: Focus on coordinating and overseeing waste management operations to ensure proper disposal and recycling.
- Organizational Efficiency: Keep waste management schedules, sorting processes, and equipment maintenance well-organized for an efficient waste system.
- Team Leadership and Communication: Lead the waste management team with clear communication, fostering a collaborative and environmentally responsible work environment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Prioritize adherence to waste disposal regulations and environmental standards, ensuring legal compliance.
- Adaptability and Sustainability Initiatives: Be adaptable to changes in waste disposal practices, implementing sustainable initiatives to minimize environmental impact and optimize waste reduction.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in Sustainability and Sanitation preferred.
- Strong understanding of provincial waste management guidelines
- Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety processes and regulation
Requirements Of The Role You Should Be Aware Of
- Based on the nature of our business and the service we provide to our guests, to work with us, you must consent to a criminal background check as a condition of employment and an additional criminal background check every two years.
- As a seasonal resort business, you can anticipate a schedule that will involve day, evening, night, and weekend work.
- Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling and/or lifting.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects.
- Working outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions
- Ability to resolve employee concerns
