We have an exciting opportunity available for a customer-oriented Utilities Serviceperson to join our team. This is a unique role that acts as a first responder to service requests, coordinates utility tie-in permits and provides utility locate information to internal and external customers, contractors and consultants.
We are seeking candidates that possess strong teamwork, problem solving, and customer service skills. Flexibility is essential to work various hours, including overtime and weekends when necessary. Knowledge of construction bylaws and systems would be considered an asset.
Duties - Union

Responses to service inquiries, requests and complaints.

Provides utility locate information utilizing computer data bases, maps and visual confirmation.

Connects, disconnects, and reconnects water service, fire hydrants, mainline valves.

Investigates initial water, sanitary and storm sewer complaints, inspects reported problems, determines nature of problem, takes corrective action.

Liaises and supports foreman by reporting work requirements including anticipated staffing requirements and assisting with other preparatory work.

Schedules and witnesses contractor connections to existing City utilities.

Liaises and meets with contractors, consultants, utility providers, city staff and customers on projects and services.

Coordinates and communicates as built and other information with varies internal and external customers.

Repairs and overhauls water lines, valves and fire hydrants.

Uses computers, electronic devices and equipment such as electronic locating equipment, pressure gauges, pumps, and various electronic or hydraulic equipment and hand tools.

Maintains equipment as required.

Completes and updates records, reports and data bases of information.
