The Drop-In Sports Volunteer supports the delivery of community recreation programs at the Kelowna Family YMCA. Volunteers assist with program setup, participant engagement, and ensuring activities run smoothly while fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.

AVAILABLE SHIFTS
- Open Badminton
- Tuesdays: 7:15 PM – 9:00 PM
- Sundays: 9:35 AM – 12:15 PM
- Volleyball
- Adult (19+) Volleyball: Wednesdays, 6:45 PM – 9:00 PM
- Open Volleyball: Saturdays, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Through your support, participants will enjoy organized, safe, and inclusive sport opportunities that contribute to healthier and more vibrant communities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Set up and take down sports equipment, including nets and program materials.
- Welcome participants and help create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
- Support gameplay and assist with program coordination.
- Promote fair play, respect, and positive sportsmanship.
- Foster a safe and welcoming environment for individuals of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Assist YMCA staff in ensuring programs run efficiently.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe activity spaces.
- Help participants feel connected and engaged in community recreation programs.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Interest in recreation, sport, and community engagement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work positively with diverse participants.
- Reliability and commitment to scheduled volunteer shifts.
- Ability to assist with equipment setup and takedown.
- Familiarity with badminton and/or volleyball is considered an asset.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 19 years of age or older.
- Must be able to commit to a regular volunteer schedule.
- Three professional references
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check Check/Vulnerable Sector Search. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
