CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction over the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel. The Legal, Socio-Judicial and Municipal Management Department of the KRG is currently seeking to recruit a candidate to work in Kuujjuaq in the capacity of:
INSURANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR
(Permanent, full-time position)
Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Legal, Socio-Judicial and Municipal Management Department, the Insurance and Risk Management Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Kativik Regional Government (KRG) and the Northern Villages’ (NVs) insurance portfolio and risk management programs.
DUTIES

Administer and maintain the KRG and Northern Villages’ (NVs) insurance portfolio, including property and casualty, pollution, cargo, hull and machinery and protection and indemnity

Review and process insurance claims, ensuring timely documentation

Liaise with insurance consultants, insurance brokers, insurance compagnies, claim adjusters, and other relevant key stakeholders on KRG and NVs insurance portfolio and claims

Provide guidance to KRG departments and NVs regarding insurance requirements for municipal operations, facilities, contracts and agreements

Coordinate renewals of insurance policies, ensuring that all required information be provided on time to ensure appropriate insurance coverage

Maintain up-to-date records and databases related to insurance policies and claims

Assist with third-party contracts and agreements to ensure adequate insurance clauses and risk transfer provisions

Facilitate the drafting of reports and analysis related to insurance renewals, claims, premiums, and risk exposure

Support the implementation of risk management initiatives and recommend improvements to reduce potential losses

Provide advice and training to staff on insurance procedures, reporting requirements, and claim prevention
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Diploma or degree in Administration, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field of insurance, preferably within a municipal or public sector environment

Knowledge of insurance principles, claims handling, and risk management practices

Familiarity with municipal operations, contracts, and legislative frameworks is considered an asset

Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with insurance or claims management systems
Place of work: Hybrid with travel to Nunavik as required
Salary: Min. $95,579 yearly – Max. $ 131,407 a year (Class 91)

Ses principales responsabilités sont définies dans la Loi sur les villages nordiques et l’Administration régionale Kativik (Loi sur l’ARK). D’autres mandats lui ont été confiés par les municipalités de la région et le gouvernement du Québec.
The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) was established in 1978 under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement to provide public services to Nunavimmiut. Its core responsibilities are outlined in the Act respecting Northern Villages and the Kativik Regional Government (Kativik Act). Additional mandates have been assigned by the region’s municipalities and the Québec government.
