We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Cook/Kitchen Hand to join our team. At the Carrick Farm Market we do many things, such as catering and operating a commercial apple press during harvest season. The market has a heavy focus on the butchery process, and takes pride in creating high-quality, locally made meals in our commercial kitchen. The successful candidate will be someone who is passionate about food, enjoys cooking, and would be excited to work directly with a mentor, learning more about the culinary arts, and how to run a successful small business. The majority of time will be spent in the kitchen, but the position also provides opportunities to work with social media management, monthly newsletter coordination, retail inventory, till operation, and direct customer engagement. It is a well-rounded role for someone looking to grow both creatively and professionally while working in the local food community.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, cooking, and packaging products according to established recipes and standards Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly Support the kitchen team with basic cooking tasks and ingredient handling Operate POS systems for order processing and cash handling when required Ensure food safety standards are consistently met by following proper handling, storage, and sanitation procedures Help with stock rotation, inventory management, and restocking supplies as needed Provide excellent guest services by maintaining a friendly attitude and responding promptly to customer requests Assist in meal assembly for catering or special events as required Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for staff and guests Skills Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or hospitality environments is preferred but not mandatory Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety protocols Experience with the Square POS system advantageous Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and interact with guests Ability to handle food safely and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene Customer service orientation with a friendly, professional demeanor Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks Basic cashiering skills including cash handling and transaction processing Experience in meal preparation, serving, barista duties, or hotel guest services is a plus This position offers an engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and culinary arts.
