About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Information Technology (IT), the Application Analyst is responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of School District 72’s software applications. The Application Analyst will lead the integration of complex systems and applications, ensuring seamless communication and data flow across our technology landscape. This position will work closely with various stakeholders and cross-functional team members to understand business requirements, identify integration needs, architect solutions, implement best practices, and translate them into effective integration strategies that enhance operational efficiency across our diversified platforms.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Performs analysis, design, programming, administration and configuration of various software, business applications and databases.
- Collaborate with the technology team and stakeholders to understand software and application requirements.
- Use various strategies such as interviews, surveys, and workshops to gather necessary information about application needs.
- Analyze user needs and design efficient and effective software solutions.
- Lead the integration and implementation lifecycle, from initial assessment, design, and development through to deployment and post-implementation support.
- Develop and document detailed specifications, including the use of flowcharts and diagrams.
- Develop and manage student and staff Microsoft AD/Azure automation.
- Code, configure, and modify software applications based on design specifications.
- Customize off-the-shelf software and API’s to meet specific business requirements.
- Plan and conduct thorough testing of applications to ensure functionality, performance, and security.
- Identify and address any bugs or issues through debugging and troubleshooting.
- Oversee the deployment of applications and software updates.
- Coordinate with IT teams and end-users to ensure a smooth transition.
- Build and provide training support, including the development of training manuals and guides, to end-users on how to effectively use the applications.
- Offer ongoing support to address user concerns, troubleshoot issues, and optimize user experience.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of applications, including technical specifications, user manuals, and system changes.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure seamless integration and functionality between systems.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance the performance and efficiency of existing applications.
- Ensure applications comply with security policies and standards while implementing measures to safeguard sensitive data and information.
- Evaluate and recommend third-party applications as needed.
Bring your Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three years’ experience in information technology with knowledge of software/application development lifecycles.
- Proficiency in programming languages and scripting skills relevant to the organization’s technology stack (e.g. Python, PowerShell, API integration).
- Experience working with Microsoft and Microsoft Power Apps (e.g. M365, Microsoft Power Automate, Power BI, Access, Excel etc.)
- Understanding of databases and management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).
- Excellent analytical skills the ability to analyze and evaluate various data and information, develop solutions and strategies for technological problems and assess the implications of proposed changes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively, achieve objectives autonomously, to lead and/or work as part of a team, and to provide mentorship and training to other team members.
- Experience in systems analysis and design methodologies.
- Hands-on experience developing and customizing applications.
- Proficiency in application testing and quality assurance methodologies and tools.
- Experience conducting functional, performance, and security testing.
- Knowledge of server configurations, networking, and cloud computing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies in a rapidly changing IT landscape.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex integration scenarios.
