Schedule: 40 hour/week
Monday – Friday
Compensation: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour (based on experience)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and self-motivated Central Office Caretaker/Maintenance Worker to support the daily operations of our central office facility. This position involves general cleaning, light maintenance tasks, and mail room and shipping/receiving duties. The ideal candidate will take pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment for staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning & Facility Upkeep
- Perform daily cleaning of offices, common areas, restrooms, kitchen/break areas, and meeting rooms.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and sanitize surfaces as needed.
- Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners.
- Monitor and restock cleaning and restroom supplies.
- Respond to urgent clean-up requests (e.g., spills).
- Minor snow removal.
- Window cleaning.
Light Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections and perform minor repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs, minor painting, tightening fixtures, inspections of light packs, exit lights, fire extinguishers, AED's).
- Report and coordinate with maintenance supervisors for larger repair needs.
- Ensure that maintenance tools and supplies are organized and in working condition.
Shipping/Receiving & Mail room Duties
- Receive, log, and distribute incoming mail, packages, and deliveries.
- Prepare outgoing shipments and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
- Maintain inventory of shipping supplies (e.g., boxes, tape, labels).
- Coordinate with delivery services as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous custodial, general maintenance, or facilities support experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and a professional, respectful demeanor.
Working Conditions:
- Indoor office setting with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
- Use of cleaning chemicals and maintenance tools required.
- PPE and safety training provided as needed.
Education/Licences/Certificates
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record (abstract may be requested)

About Palliser School Division
The Palliser Regional Schools is a school jurisdiction located in southern Alberta. The geographical area stretches from just south of Lethbridge to the Bow River south of Calgary. Palliser Centre houses the Central Office Administration, Maintenance and Transportation Services and is located in the City of Lethbridge. In addition, a satellite Maintenance Shop has been set up in the Town of Vulcan. The division offers full public education services to approximately 8,1000 students from early childhood services through Grade 12. Palliser has 15 community schools, 17 Hutterian colony schools, 10 Christian alternative schools, nine of which are in Calgary on seven different campuses, four outreach programs, an online school, and two dedicated Low German Mennonite alternative programs. One of our outreach schools and a junior high in one of our community schools also serve the LGM community.
