About The Role As ATB’s next Director of Agriculture Business Credit you will be responsible for providing adjudication and risk management of ATB’s Agricultural loan portfolio.
As with all Credit positions, this role primarily focuses on reviewing and making sound credit decisions on all credit applications received within the assigned area. The Director will support the growth of a quality book of business, uphold the Credit brand, and align with ATB's Credit Risk Philosophy and Appetite.
Accountabilities
- Maintain a mastery level of knowledge in their area of responsibility and credit risk.
- Make sound credit decisions, applying a managed risk philosophy, ensuring we balance the needs of ATB and the client, providing simple approvals, and ensuring ATB’s risk appetite is respected.
- Work within the boundaries of delegated lending limits.
- Assume ownership of the adjudicated files and projects they have responsibility for.
- Maintain a positive partner experience and uphold the Service Level Agreement and Productivity standards.
- Provide coaching and/or mentoring on transactions or policy related matters.
- Continuously adapting to the changing environment that they work within.
- Working collaboratively with other Credit team members and those within the Areas of Expertise.
- Provide recommendations supporting improvements to policies, procedures, products or services so they remain current, competitive, relevant, and simple.
Skills, Experience & Requirements Competencies / Skill Sets Required:
- The preferred candidate will possess foundational knowledge of the agriculture sector.
- While not required initially, over time you will be required to develop a mastery level of knowledge in agriculture across the various subsectors, including crops, cattle, feedlots, dairy, poultry, feeder/breeder associations, and Hutterite colonies.
- An understanding of financial statements, cash flows, liquidity, working capital dynamics, and financial impacts of growth/capital expenditure.
- The intuitive ability to manage a number of transactions and arrive at a sound decision and structure quickly.
- The ability to identify and measure (both in terms of probability and quantity) risk and establish appropriate methods to monitor and manage.
- The successful candidate will be required to participate in Credit’s Accreditation and Mastery programs.
- Possesses the leadership attributes supported by ATB (i.e., the intrinsic motivation and drive to excel; the ability to build sustaining relationships).
Designations / Education / Prerequisites
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of lending experience, preferably in Agriculture.
- Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Business, or Finance would be an asset.
