Hours per week and Schedule of Work: (Hours and Schedule of work are subject to change in accordance with Article 19):
Shifts vary based on schedule of bookings; shift selection completed monthly.
Venue Rentals Caretakers schedule based on operational needs. Schedule are drafted and published monthly and shift can take place Monday to Sunday and may include early morning or overnight shifts.
Venue Rental Caretakers shifts take place a branches with Premium Venue locations including Toronto Reference Library, North York Central, Bloor Gladstone, Fort York and Scarborough Civic Centre.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the designated supervisor, is required to carry out caretaking and janitorial duties in and around the building, and to perform other related duties as assigned.
DUTIES:
- janitorial cleaning of specified areas, including tile and carpeted floors, washing of walls and furniture, dusting and waste disposal
- washroom sanitation and replenishment of supplies
- window cleaning – internal glass and display cases and external glass, not over ten feet in height
- outside clean-up of grounds throughout the year, including snow removal, etc.
- meeting room set-up following written or verbal instructions
- maintenance of internal plants (watering, cleaning, etc.)
- assists with movement of material and equipment, e.g. filing cabinets, desks, cupboards, screens, etc., following written or verbal instructions.
Qualifications:

Minimum of Ontario Grade 10 education or equivalent

Two years of experience in janitorial and caretaking work required

Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects and doing inside and outside work throughout the year

Valid Class "G" driver's licence

Ability to read and understand work instructions essential

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
