About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for a broad range of duties, working closely with Property Managers, the Accounts Receivable Manager, Accounting, and Site Administration teams. The primary focus of this position is to track and resolve outstanding resident issues in a professional and timely manner.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of integrity, strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and maintain a positive, proactive attitude. This role also involves preparing landlord notices and applications using prescribed forms, as well as representing and advocating on behalf of the landlord before the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB).
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and review relevant data to prepare Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) legal forms and applications
- Analyze resident ledgers to ensure accuracy and support collections efforts
- Communicate with tenants and occupants regarding legal matters and payment issues
- Prepare reports and summaries for management as required
- Review, interpret, and enforce LTB Orders and mediated Agreements
- Research and gather evidence; prepare, review, and serve disclosure materials as required
- Attend and represent the landlord at Landlord and Tenant Board hearings
- Liaise with In-House Legal Counsel, Accounts Receivable Team Lead, and other stakeholders as needed
- Negotiate payment agreements for presentation to a mediator or Board Member
- Organize, manage, and maintain all open legal files
- Provide guidance and respond to legal-related inquiries from internal team members
- Monitor and communicate legislative updates and developments related to the Residential Tenancies Act
Qualifications & Requirements
Must-Haves:
- P1 Paralegal License (or actively working toward designation) in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (new licensees welcome)
- Working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Asset:
- Experience with Yardi property management software
